General
St. Saviour's Catholic Infant School caters for boys and girls from 4 to 7 years old. The pupil/teacher ratio and the date of admission of pupils are dependent on the regulations of the Cheshire Education Authority and the Shrewsbury Diocese. Children whose fifth birthdays fall between 1st September and 31st August the following year (inclusive) will be admitted in the September, although they may attend part-time only for the first few weeks.
Illness in School & Medicines
Pupils who are unwell should not be sent to school but please notify us as soon as possible by telephone. A letter of explanation should accompany the pupil on his/her return to school.
If a child falls ill during the school day, parents will be notified immediately. It is vital that accurate emergency numbers are given and please inform us immediately of any changes of telephone numbers or addresses.
If a child bumps his/her head during the school day, the parent will be informed as soon as possible.
As from September 1999 the Reception children have been given the opportunity to combat dental decay and can receive a fluoride tablet on each school day. Parental permission is needed for your child to be included on this programme.
Annual Report to Parents by the Governors
Each year the Governors produce a report to the Parents followed by a meeting between the Governors and the Parents, if requested by more than 15 parents.
Reports
Reports of progress will be sent to parents of all pupils at the end of each school year. For Y2 pupils this will include results of Key Stage 1 Standard Tasks of Assessment and national comparative information.
Complaints Procedure
All the necessary documents and information are available on request from the Headteacher should any parent wish to complain about the way the National Curriculum is being applied in this school. All other documents concerning the Education Reform Act 1988 are also available.
Charging Policy
The policy for charging for activities is that laid down by ERA 1988. Parents may be asked to make voluntary contributions.
Personal Property
Parents are asked to note that the Authority does not accept responsibility for loss of, or damage to, personal property whilst on, or left at, the Authority's premises.
Attendance
Registers are marked at the beginning of the school sessions, i.e. as soon as possible after 9.00 am and 1.00 pm. Presence is indicated by a black / or \ in the appropriate column.
Late arrival:
Children are recorded as late, indicated by an 'L' in the appropriate column if they arrive after the register has been completed unless the school has previously been notified.
Absence:
Frequent absences will be investigated. Absence is indicated by a red 'O' in the appropriate column, inside which, there will be a coding letter such as 'M' for medical reasons.
Unauthorised Absences
In order to monitor the unauthorised absences for children in school, it is vital that you inform the school of any absences immediately that they occur. Please write informing whether medical reason or holiday (holiday: maximum of two weeks permitted each school year only when family holidays cannot be taken during school closure, permission must be requested in writing beforehand, single days are not permitted).
