Junior Road Safety Officers

Hi we are the JRSO's (junior road safety officers) of St. Saviour's Primary School to put this message out of how to be safe on the road.

Bulletins:

The December bulletin is to always wear a cycle helmet, because if you fall off your bike then you might crack your head and get brain damage.

The January bulletin is about copying your elders because if parents are not wearing their seatbelt then we will copy them.

The February bulletin is about the green cross code. Using the green cross code will help you to cross the road safely.

  • Think first - find a safe place to cross, then stop.
  • Stop - stand on the pavement, near the kerb.
  • Use your eyes and ears - look all around for traffic and listen.
  • Wait until its safe to cross - if traffic is coming let it pass - look all around again
  • Look and listen again - when there's no traffic near, walk straight across the road.

NEVER CROSS IN A PLACE WHERE YOU ARN'T SUPPOSED TO !!!!!!

The March bulletin is about seatbelts
Are we sitting safely?
It's very important for drivers and passengers in cars to be safe make sure you: Buckle up, always wear a seatbelt and make sure everyone else is belted up too. Using the correct seat or booster seat gives us the best possible protection in the event of a crash.
Do we need a booster seat ?

Are you under 135cm tall?
If you are not yet 12 years of age or you are less than 135cm tall you must use a child seat or a booster cushion with the adult seatbelt. Once you have reached 135cm or your 12th birthday (whichever you reach first) then you can use an adult seatbelt, However it is a good idea to keep using you booster cushion till you are 150cm tall.

whenever you go on a journey
and you're sitting in your car
make sure you wear your seatbelt
even if you're not going far.

Competitions:
For the winter competition we decided to link the competitions to the walking bus. The junior department had to design a logo for the walking bus and the infant department had to design a poster for the walking bus.
