Health
During their school life children will have routine vision, hearing and dental checks which are administered by Local Health Authority professionals. Any problems will be referred for further investigations with parental consent.
From time to time children can become ill with infectious diseases. Children should be kept away from school until a medical professional tells you that they are fit to return.
If a child is suffering from diarrhoea or vomiting we expect them to be kept away from school for at least 24 hours after the last episode of sickness and diarrhoea.
If a child falls ill during the school day parents will be notified as soon as possible by telephone. It is vital that accurate emergency numbers are given. Please inform us immediately of any changes to telephone numbers and addresses.
Medicines
Medicines are not normally allowed in school. However, in certain circumstances they are – when we have received a written request from a parent giving clear instructions regarding the required dosage and when the parent has completed a disclaimer form.
Some children suffer from asthma or severe allergies. If your child has been prescribed with an inhaler, epipen or other ongoing medication it is the parents' responsibility to ensure that this medication is in school at all times and that it is within date.
